Aston Villa have been long-term admirers of Watford winger Ismaila Sarr and it remains to be seen if they will strengthen their interest this Deadline Day.

Missing out on the Senegalese international in the summer, the Championship attacker is still valued highly by the Hertfordshire club.

As per a Patreon report from journalist Alan Nixon, the Hornets will be holding out for around £25 million for the 24-year-old as they look to price out the Premier League clubs who are interested.

Sharing his thoughts on whether or not he envisages an Aston Villa approach before the window slams shut, transfer insider Dean Jones told Football League World: “Do Villa have £25 million to throw at Watford? I’m not sure that they do. I’m not sure that is exactly what they are looking for.

“But on the other hand, it could be a player like that can influence Villa’s season in a positive way.”

The verdict

Proven in the Premier League, and a player who also made an impact on the international stage, Sarr is a player that could have an immediate impact at Villa Park.

A pacey, direct runner who possesses an excellent dribbling ability and an eye for goal, it is no surprise that the 24-year-old has remained on the radars of Premier League clubs.

As Jones alludes to, £25 million does represent a risk, especially during the January transfer window but the potential rewards are high.
