Roma’s latest signing, Dean Huijsen, made his debut for the club in last night’s intense 1-1 draw with Atalanta.
The young centre-back who’d joined Roma on Saturday was deployed immediately in the second half once Diego Llorente went down with an injury.
Huijsen stood his ground against a difficult opponent, completing a number of impressive passes and never showing his age in a match that saw Roma push for a win until the final whistle.
As Llorente’s condition remains questionable ahead of the Derby della Capitale with Lazio on Wednesday in the Coppa Italia, Il Tempo reports that Huijsen is ready to replace the Spaniard in Jose Mourinho’s line-up.
The 18-year-old is currently the only remaining option at centre-back that would spare the likes of Zeki Celik and Rasmus Kristensen from playing in a role that is not theirs to begin with.
