Dean Davenport and James Marrs join Bromley Women | OneFootball

Sixth-tier Bromley have appointed former Crystal Palace pair Dean Davenport and James Marrs as manager and head coach respectively.

Davenport managed Palace for 11 years, three of those aided by Marrs, who has also coached in the second tier with both Brighton and Charlton Athletic.

Mick Strain joins the London & South East League Division 1 South side as goalkeeper coach, while Andrea Ellis is named head of women and girls’ football at the club.

Owner and Chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves told bromleyfc.co.uk: “In my time as chairman, I have always made it clear that I wish for our women’s team and matchdays to be on par with the men’s. As we look to develop and professionalise the women’s team further, these appointments are a clear step in that direction. It’s an exciting time for the team, and I look forward to seeing their continued progress.”

Dean Davenport added: “After speaking with the club’s chairman and working closely with CEO Mark Hammond and Andrea Ellis, I was impressed with the vision they have for the progress of the women’s team. It’s an exciting opportunity and a great time to part of this football club and its journey.”

Andrea Ellis commented: “It is clear to see the calibre that both Dean and James will bring to the women’s team. They successfully took a team from Tier 6 to the Championship, a similar journey that we are aiming Bromley FC Women to embark on.

“Furthermore, I am delighted to be taking on this new role of Head of Women and Girls. It is a fantastic opportunity to take the next step in promoting the women’s game and build on the brilliant work that has already been put in over the last few years.”

Bromley sit third in the table with seven wins and two defeats, holding five games in hand on the top two; Dartford Reserves and runaway leaders Newhaven.
