As reported by Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, Lens’ talisman, and winner of the GFFN 100 for 2021, Seko Fofana, has reached a verbal agreement with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr over a move.

An agreement over a fee has also been reach in principle between the two clubs but there are still some details to be concluded. The Ivorian international should cost Al-Nassr, who famously signed Cristiano Ronaldo last winter, just under €30m reports Aouna via sources inside the Saudi club.

This would be a major blow for Lens who enter the Champions League next season having finished second in Ligue 1, just a point behind PSG, to guarantee their place in the group stages. Fofana’s midfield energy, goal scoring and leadership has defined Lens’ stunning return to Ligue 1, helping the club to finish seventh in the division twice upon their return in 2020.

PSG, Marseille and Premier League clubs (most notably Newcastle) have all been repeatedly linked with the 28-year-old in recent times but he, says the reported, was not necessarily planning on leaving this summer. However, the Saudi offer has proved ‘difficult to resist’.
