Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Old Trafford Task Force have a big decision to make regarding new stadium plans.

It has been suggested that Ratcliffe wants to build a ‘Wembley of the North’ for United, with the club planning to construct a new stadium on the site of Old Trafford.

According to a new report from the Manchester Evening News, Samuel Luckhurst claims an official announcement is expected by the end of the year.

Fans have debated whether they want a completely new stadium or if it’s best to refurbish Old Trafford. I’m a traditionalist at heart and the idea of leaving Old Trafford doesn’t sit right with me, but when you visit other stadiums it’s clear that it hasn’t been shown any love for the past 18 years.

The Glazers are to blame for that.

United’s preferred choice is to erect a brand-new 100,000-seater stadium on land adjacent to Old Trafford, costing approximately £2 billion, by 2030.

The So-Fi Stadium that United played in on Saturday cost around £4 billion. The Mirror suggest the Old Trafford Task Force are looking at SoFi as a model for their own ambitions for a new stadium.
