Roma are hoping to convince Paulo Dybala to stay as the Argentine’s future remains unclear.
Roma’s missed Champions League qualification could weigh heavily on Dybala whose release clause is valid until the end of July.
The Giallorossi departed for Australia on Tuesday afternoon ahead of Friday’s friendly with Milan with several players missing due to their involvement in upcoming international engagements.
Among the few starters to have travelled with the team was Dybala himself (who has been recently excluded from Argentina’s squad ahead of Copa America). According to Leggo, Dybala’s presence for the friendly is an important sign for his future.
The newspaper claims that the player and De Rossi will soon hold a meeting where they will confront each about future plans.
De Rossi will explain to Dybala the role he has in mind for him, no longer behind the striker, but as a false nine. In De Rossi’s preferred 433 system that is the role that Dybala would fill in from now on.
Following this meeting, it will be up to Dybala to make the decision to stay and ask newly appointed Roma director Florent Ghisolfi to discuss options for a contract extension.
