Manchester United legend Roy Keane committed a cultural crime on his recent trip to Italy, as he decided to chop up his spaghetti during a sit-down meal with Roma hero Daniele De Rossi.
“He lost a lot of respect for me there,” Keane admitted while reflecting on the comical incident.
De Rossi accompanied Keane, Gary Neville, Ian Wright and Jamie Carragher for a trip around Rome for the final episode of The Overlap on Tour. The five former Premier League and Serie A stars sat down for a meal and an in-depth discussion about football, Italy and life in Rome.
“An idol, cutting spaghetti?,” De Rossi said in disbelief as Keane took a knife and fork to his meal.
Wright jokingly labelled his co-star ‘uncultured’ and pointed to an incident involving Paul Ince during his time at Inter, where he reportedly had his meal taken away from him and then replaced after he committed the same offence.
