De Rossi praises Friedkins, discusses Gasperini’s arrival | OneFootball

Former Roma manager Daniele De Rossi gave an interview to Calciomercato – L’Originale on Sky Sport.

In the interview, the Giallorossi legend discussed his bond with his boyhood club as well as the recent appointment of Gian Piero Gasperini and his relationship with the Friedkins.

“I was called back to Roma in a moment of crisis, there was a need for someone who knew how to coach but above all how to calm the fans and I accepted it, exploited it and lived it well. I don’t think this experience damaged me.”

“I think I had six good months in which I understood what the situation required and grew in my role.”

“The next step was abruptly interrupted, it kept me still for the remaining months because the law in Italy provides for this, but in these months I didn’t stay still: I tried to analyze the things done well and the things done wrong and my staff. It was an unusual path, but if you know how to draw the positive I think it won’t stop me.”

“Did I expect to be called back? No, the decision to appoint Gasperini is so strong and positive for Roma that I didn’t feel the desire to return. During this past season there was a difficult moment and I thought who knows, if I really have to go back I’ll gladly go back.”

On the relationship with the Friedkins: “We had a final positive farewell, there was disappointment because I had just been fired, disappointment on my part but also on their part. I think that from a human point of view they wanted more success than I had.”

“With the Friedkins I left disappointed but with gratitude in my heart, I have good memories both on a professional and human level. Apart from a few confrontations we have always had an excellent relationship.”
