Danielle de Jong is officially a Juventus Women player, with the goalkeeper having completed her move from FC Twente. On the day of her arrival in Turin, the Dutch goalkeeper gave her first interview as a Bianconera.

FIRST FEELINGS

“When I first heard I was really flattered that such a big club was interested in me. Now, being here, it feels really good, everybody has been really nice, I really like the city and I feel comfortable. I’m excited to be here.

ABOUT DANIELLE

With Danielle arriving at Juventus as a newcomer to Italian football, we asked her what fans could expect to see from her, and a bit about her background as well.

“I started when I was four, as a goalkeeper, and then I played at a club in my hometown, then got scouted, trained more and more. Then the team I played with became Young PSV, and from there I went to PSV, signed my first contract, then went to FC Twente, and now I’m here.

“I think I’m explosive, I have a good reach in goal, and I have a good long kick. I think my height and strength and explosiveness are strong features of mine.”

WEURO 2025

The 2025 Women’s European Championship this summer will see De Jong face off against France in the group stage, pitting her against new teammate Pauline Peyraud-Magnin.

“Pauline has a lot of experience. She’s calm on the ball, knows what she’s doing and I have enormous respect for her career.”
