De Gea salary demands too high for Fiorentina and Genoa | OneFootball

Both Fiorentina and Genoa have held talks with free agent David De Gea, but his salary demands – even with a massive cut from his Manchester United wage – make a deal unlikely.

The goalkeeper turns 34 in November and is available after his contract with the Premier League side was allowed to run down.

There were reports of negotiations with Genoa that reached an advanced stage a few days ago, while now Sportitalia maintain Fiorentina are speaking to his representatives to work out personal terms.

De Gea pricing himself out in Serie A

However, TEAMtalk insist that both Serie A clubs consider his wage demands to be unrealistic and unacceptable.

It is believed that De Gea is looking for around €5-6m per season, which is a good three or four times less than what he was earning at Manchester United, but still an extraordinary amount for a player of his age and recent injury record.

It all points to the Spaniard probably taking the next step in his career in the Saudi Pro League rather than Serie A.
