Inspired De Bruyne keeps City on top

Scorers: Dendoncker 11ā€²; De Bruyne 7ā€², 16ā€², 24ā€², 60ā€², Sterling 84ā€²

Manchester City maintained their lead at the top of the table over Liverpool after beating Wolves 5-1.

It didnā€™t take long for the visitors to settle in at Molineux Stadium and they hit the ground running thanks to an early strike from Kevin De Bruyne.

But Wolves suggested they were ready for a fight and hit back immediately on the counter when Leander Dendoncker made it 1-1 four minutes later.

Fortunately for Pep Guardiola though, the Belgian was on fire in the first half and secured a 24-minute hat-trick to put City in the driverā€™s seat at half-time.

Wolves did manage to keep the visitors tame for most of the second half but RaĆŗl JimĆ©nez, Pedro Neto and company couldnā€™t find a way to make things a one-goal game.

Instead, De Bruyne went on to add a fourth and a late fifth from Raheem Sterling wrapped up a statement win.

The result means City sit three points clear at the top over Liverpool while Wolves are eighth.

Watford do enough to frustrate Everton

Scorers: N/A

Everton dominated their trip to Watford but were left frustrated after a 0-0 draw.

It continues to be a tight race at the bottom of the table so this was a crunch clash for Frank Lampardā€™s side and they threw everything forward with 16 attempts on goal.

However, despite having the better chances thanks to some inspired work from Anthony Gordon, Richarlison, and Demarai Gray plus more possession, nothing clicked in their favour.

But you have to give Watfordā€™s defence some deserved credit ā€“ especially goalkeeper Ben Foster who kept things all square with a handful of saves in the second half.

In the end, the result means 16th-placed Everton picked up a crucial point in the race to avoid relegation while Watford sit 19th.

Leicester dig deep to beat Norwich

Scorers: Vardy 54ā€², 62ā€², Maddison 70ā€²

Leicester City picked up their first win since mid-April after digging deep to beat Norwich City 3-0.

The first half was a nervy affair for both clubs but neither side was able to find the back of the net.

Jamie Vardy and James Maddison drove the attack for the Foxes while the visitors had their share of opportunities with Dimitris Giannoulis calling Kasper Schmeichel into action and Teemu Pukki hitting the post.

But minutes after the restart it was Leicester who had their persistence finally rewarded.

Vardy deflected the ball over the line to break the deadlock before securing a brace eight minutes later and Maddison eventually went on to add a third which securedd the victory.

The result means Leicester sit 10th while Norwich remain bottom of the table.

Chelsea cruise past 10-man Leeds

Scorers: Mount 4ā€², Pulisic 55ā€², Lukaku 83ā€²

Thomas Tuchelā€™s side bounced back to winning ways ahead of the FA Cup final this weekend with a 3-0 win over 10-man Leeds.

Needing to boost their spirits ahead of a crucial cup clash, Chelsea started off on the front foot right from kick-off and Mason Mountā€™s curling effort found the net with the first shot of the game.

Then while Jesse Marschā€™s side did have a few opportunities to try and push for an equaliser, they were then handed a massive blow after Dan James was shown a direct red for a challenge on Mateo Kovačić which forced the Croatian off.

Down a man, Leeds then sat quite deep which stifled Chelseaā€™s previously free-flowing attack. Romelu Lukaku thought he doubled the lead but his goal was ruled offside to see things sit 1-0 at the break.

However, coming out afterward the visitors continued to inflict more misery on Leeds when Christian Pulisicā€™s shot left Illan Meslier flat-footed, and then Lukaku added a third late on.

To make matters worse for the hosts, Jack Harrison was also forced off through injury.

The result means Chelsea sit third, four points above Arsenal ahead of the north London derby, while 18th place Leeds drop further towards relegation.

The action continues on Thursday with all eyes on the top four as Tottenham go head-to-head with rivals Arsenal.
