DC United have announced the hiring of Troy Lesesne as the club’s new head coach.

Lesesne will sign a three-year contract in the nation’s capital, having previously coached USL Championship side New Mexico United and a short spell as New York Red Bulls boss in 2023.

D.C. United, are chasing their first MLS Cup Playoffs appearance since the 2019, having finished 12th in the Eastern Conference after just 10 wins from 34 regular season games in 2023 under Wayne Rooney.

“After speaking with ownership, I am highly optimistic that we have the infrastructure and investment to reach the level that the fans deserve, Lesesne said.

“I know there is a lot of work ahead of us in the next few weeks as we prepare for the 2024 season and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
