Sky Germany reports that Davie Selke can leave 1.FC Köln in the summer if the club is relegated from the Bundesliga at the end of the season.
Selke’s contract is only valid for the Bundesliga meaning he is free to leave. Other clubs from the Bundesliga as well as MLS clubs have already made inquiries about the 28-year-old.
However, there is a possibility that the striker could stay at Köln if the economic and sporting conditions are suitable for Selke. The 28-year-old loves the club but his next contract would need to align with his requirements if he is to stay.
Köln’s transfer ban means that it would be very difficult to find a replacement for Selke if he does leave the club in the summer.
At the weekend, Selke scored his fifth goal of the season as Köln drew 1-1 with Heidenheim to keep them in the relegation zone three points away from safety. The 28-year-old would be subbed off in the 71st minute with a foot injury that will keep him out for the next four to six weeks which will be a big miss for relegation fighting Köln.
