Inter, Roma, Monza, and Juventus were the Italian clubs interested in a move for Davide Frattesi in the last summer transfer window. But with none of them intending to meet Sassuolo‘s asking price for the midfielder, Frattesi remained at Mapei Stadium.

According to what is reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester United have now joined the race for the former Roma man, with the Premier League club sending a scout to monitor the midfielder in Sassuolo’s 5-0 win over Salernitana on Sunday.

The report understands that this was not the first that a Man United scout had attended a Sassuolo game to keep tabs on the 23-year-old, and this would not be the last time, either.

Sassuolo have always seen the Italy international as a nontransferable asset despite interest from several clubs from outside Italy, including Tottenham Hotspur.

Roma were keen on signing Frattesi last summer. But with the Giallorossi getting access to Georginio Wijnaldum’s services, Jose Mourinho’s club could not dare to shell out €‎35 million asked by the Neroverdi.

However, if a rich club like Man United come forward to secure Frattesi’s signing, Sassuolo would reportedly ask for a much higher transfer fee as the player has a contract until June 2026, with Roma getting 30% of the total figure due to a sell-on clause in the player’s contract.
