David Silva has hailed Bernardo Silva as his natural successor at Manchester City and believes the Portuguese playmaker has everything to be one of the very best.
Both men have been in scintillating form for Pep Guardiola’s side this season, scoring a combined total of 12 goals and assisting a further seven.
The reigning Premier League champions are sitting pretty at the top of the table domestically and are in pole position to qualify from their Champions League group.
At 32, David Silva knows he won’t be at the Etihad forever, but is confident that things are in safe hands with Bernardo pulling the strings from midfield.
“He’s a brilliant player with lots of quality and works very hard,” the former Spain international told the Manchester Evening News.
“He’s got a huge amount of quality. Football moves on, players come and players go.
“But there’s always someone to come in and fill your shoes and we’re lucky that we’ve got lots of players to do that.”
David Silva is set to play one last game for La Roja in their friendly against Bosnia on Sunday, whilst Bernardo is set to start for Portugal when they take on Italy on Saturday in the Nations League.
