A top transfer reporter says that Chelsea are now closing in on a deal to sign a top young starlet this week for a reasonable fee.

Chelsea look like they might end up paying a fee of around £34.8m to sign Ajax’s 19-year-old defender Jorrel Hato in a deal that has moved quick and is now developing.

When David Ornstein of The Athletic speaks on a deal and says it’s closing, then you know that is exactly what is happening and more often than not, said deal will get done.

There’s been a lot reported already on Hato to Chelsea as it’s been developing over the weekend as wellas today.

Fabrizio Romano has already said that Hato only wants to join Chelsea this summer in what is a great result for The Blues and very positive to hear that players want to come to the club now.

And there was also another positive report on Hato to Chelsea coming out of Holland this morning, which shows this one is heading in the right direction.

Ornstein reports Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign Jorrel Hato from Ajax! An agreement between the clubs has yet to be reached but is nearing, with a compromise expected in the coming days on a price worth more than £34.8m.

Seems like this one is becoming more a matter of when and not if it happens.

Hato to challenge Cucurella

It will be great to see solid and natural competition for Marc Cucurella at Chelsea this season should Hato come in, and we assume that is what he will be signed for.
