David Ornstein reports that Arsenal are one of a few teams keeping an eye on Ben Godfrey this season. Borussia Dortmund and Olympique Lyonnais have both ‘made checks’ on the 21-year-old. Meanwhile, Spurs and Arsenal are showing interest from England.

This isn’t the first mention of Arsenal’s interest in Godfrey. Scouts watched the defender all the way back in February, according to reports at the time.

The big problem is that Norwich value the centre-back at around £50m. They’ve seen the likes of Harry Maguire moving for £85m and Championship defender Adam Webster transfer for £20m. As a result, they’ve raised their asking price.

Around Norwich, the belief is that Godfrey will become an elite defender.

Right now, Godfrey is part of a struggling Norwich team fighting relegation. The Canaries are four points away from escaping the relegation zone with a goal difference gap of 12 to make up.

There’s a long way to go this season, but the club are probably going to struggle to command a £50m fee from the Championship. They need to get their act together or the big clubs will pounce.
