  1. Watford FC have had a quiet January transfer window, with only three deals made so far.
  2. Nigerian attacker Emmanuel Dennis has returned to the club on loan, and the hope is that he can help the team push closer to the top-six race.
  3. With one week left in the transfer window, Watford should consider signing midfielder Etienne Camara, forward David Okereke, and right-back Akim Zedadka to strengthen the squad.

With just under one week to go in the January transfer window, it has been a relatively calm month at Watford FC so far.

After a huge turnover in the summer, which saw a big number of outgoings, so far this window, the club have been involved in just three deals.

In terms of outgoings, midfielder Imran Louza has joined Ligue 1 side FC Lorient on loan until the end of the season, whilst elsewhere, striker Rhys Healey has joined Huddersfield Town in a permanent deal reportedly worth in the region of £2 million.

returning to the club earlier this week on loan from Nottingham Forest.

Dennis had an excellent 2021/22 campaign with the Hornets despite a dismal season in the Premier League and the hope will be that he can help them push closer to the top-six race, with the club just three points behind sixth at present.

Three realistic last-minute Watford FC January signings

Of course, the last week is often the busiest of the window, though, so there could well be further incomings in WD18 this week.

With that in mind, below, we've identified three last-minute but realistic deals the Hornets should look to get done.

Etienne Camara

With Watford having let Imran Louza depart Vicarage Road this month, and a midfielder already arguably needed as a reinforcement before that, it would be a big surprise if the position went unaddressed beyond the February 1st deadline.

As such, one realistic option for the Hornets, given their connections with the Italian club, is Udinese midfielder Etienne Camara.

The 20-year-old cannot get a kick for Udinese in Serie A this season, but having played for Huddersfield Town previously, he does have some Championship experience.

With the Hornets needing depth, a short-term loan until the end of the season could be a deal that suits all parties.

David Okereke

Another signing that Watford could potentially look to get over the line in the next week is the addition of forward David Okereke.

Whilst the arrival of Emmanuel Dennis has certainly made a striker addition less of a priority, given that Dennis can play wide left, a centre-forward could theoretically still arrive.

Okereke has been linked with the Hornets this month already, with a recent update suggesting that the Championship club were edging closer to a deal.

With Rhys Healey gone, Watford have just two recognised out-and-out strikers on their books, although as mentioned, Emmanuel Dennis can play through the middle if needed.

Akim Zedadka

Last but not least, the right-back position is yet another at Vicarage Road that is somewhat of a concern.

Jeremy Ngakia has been out injured for quite some time now, which is putting a big burden on Ryan Andrews.

Don't get us wrong, Andrews has been excellent, but he needs cover for when the minutes and injuries catch up on him.

That is where Akim Zedadka comes in.

The full-back is currently out of favour at Lille and is another player previously linked with the club this month.
