David Oduro on why he might leave Barcelona Athletic!
Barcelona Atlètic is bracing for a major squad overhaul following their disappointing relegation to the second division. Among the young talents likely to depart is Ghanaian left-back David Odoro, who has attracted significant interest from several clubs.
According to Africa Foot, while the Catalan club is preparing for a wave of departures, they are not considering a permanent sale for Odoro. Instead, Barcelona is exploring a one-season loan deal—without a purchase option—to allow the promising defender to gain valuable first-team experience elsewhere.
One club that has shown particular interest in Odoro is Girona, who could offer him the opportunity to continue his development in a competitive environment. The 20-year-old has impressed with his potential, and Barcelona seems keen to retain control of his future despite the current restructuring.
As the summer transfer window heats up, Odoro’s next destination could be decided soon, with a temporary move appearing the most likely scenario for now.
Girona has reportedly taken concrete steps to secure the signing of 19-year-old Ghanaian left-back David Odoro from Barcelona Atlètic. The Spanish club, impressed by the teenager's potential, has already initiated negotiations with Barça to finalize the deal swiftly.
Despite limited playing time last season—just seven appearances for the reserve team—Odoro has shown flashes of promise, catching the attention of several clubs. His representatives are now pushing for a move that offers him greater first-team opportunities, preferably away from Barcelona’s B-team setup. Should talks with Girona stall, other options could emerge to provide the young defender with a more ambitious project.
Currently valued at €150,000 by Transfermarkt, Odoro remains under contract with Barcelona until June 2027. The Catalan club is open to a loan move but may resist a permanent transfer, given his long-term potential. As the summer window progresses, Odoro’s future could be decided sooner rather than later.
