Everton Continue Pursuit of Tyler Dibling as Moyes Eyes Right-Sided Reinforcement

Everton manager David Moyes has made it clear that signing a right-sided player remains high on his transfer agenda, as the club’s pursuit of Tyler Dibling took a public turn this week. A £27 million offer for the promising Southampton forward was firmly turned down, with the south coast club valuing their young asset at over £40 million.

Moyes, speaking ahead of Everton’s clash with Manchester United in the Premier League Summer Series, did little to hide his transfer frustrations but remained optimistic about the club’s efforts behind the scenes.

“Out of all the positions, having a right-sided player is probably one I would liked to have through the door first, if that was possible,” Moyes said. “We’ve tried for a few but not got them over the line yet.”

Right Flank Remains a Puzzle

The right-hand side of Everton’s attack has long been a problematic area. Since his return to Goodison Park, Moyes has sought to bring balance to a squad that has often looked asymmetrical, with greater depth and threat on the left flank. The need for a dynamic option on the right is no longer a tactical preference but a strategic imperative.

In targeting Tyler Dibling, Everton are not only chasing potential but making a clear statement about their long-term intentions. The 19-year-old is widely regarded as one of England’s brightest young attackers, with a technical flair and attacking intelligence that has drawn attention from several Premier League clubs.

The rejected £27 million bid indicates how serious Everton are, but also how complicated negotiations with Southampton could become. The Saints are under no pressure to sell, particularly after securing Premier League survival last season with Dibling playing a growing role.

Moyes Demands Urgency as Window Tightens

While Moyes avoided naming targets directly, his comments suggest a level of urgency not often associated with his typically cautious transfer approach.

“There’s a lot of work going on with us trying to get deals through. But I’m not going to shout out the names, because there are so many flying around, you’re not sure where to start with!” he added.

“But overall we’re trying to go about our business and improve the squad of players we have. I’m confident we will do.”

With just weeks remaining in the transfer window, the Everton boss is well aware of the time constraints facing his recruitment team. He admitted that the lack of new signings has started to become a concern in terms of integrating players before the campaign begins.

“The bedding in period is starting to worry me because time is shortening down but I’m really positive we will get quite a few players in before the window shuts.”

Squad Improvement Still the Priority

Everton’s summer has been relatively quiet so far, but Moyes is intent on reshaping the squad without disrupting its core. He has stressed continuity, yet acknowledges that key additions are essential if the club are to push further up the table this season.

Tyler Dibling may not be the only name on the list, but his profile fits Moyes’ blueprint: young, technically gifted and able to make an impact on the right side of midfield. Whether Everton return with an improved offer remains to be seen, but their interest will not go unnoticed across the league.

With the season looming and the transfer window ticking down, all eyes will be on whether Moyes can land the reinforcement he clearly prioritises.
