Manchester United are reportedly close to agreeing a new contract with goalkeeper David de Gea.
The Spaniard’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, with United understandably eager to sign an extension as soon as possible.
The Guardian claim that a new deal will soon be agreed, which will see De Gea’s wages bumped up to a massive £290,000 per week.
That will put him on the same pre-bonus basic wage as current top earner Paul Pogba, following the exit of Alexis Sánchez.
Under the terms of his current deal, the goalkeeper received roughly £200,000 per week.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has long made it clear to De Gea that he forms an important part of his plans and he has been eager to keep hold of the former Atlético man.
That said, the Spain international’s form has been patchy at best for the past year, committing several high-profile errors.
But the 28-year-old has never lost the gloves and remains an integral part of United’s plans going forward.
