David de Gea pulled off some incredible saves in the final few minutes of Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over West Ham – and David Moyes couldn’t believe it.
The visitors put United under immense pressure towards the end of the match and Kurt Zouma must have thought he had equalised when he connected with a header. However, De Gea pulled off an incredible save to tip it wide.
What a save.
And those are the words that came out of Moyes’ mouth when he saw it – with an expletive thrown in for good measure.
The former Man Utd manager appeared to say ‘What a f**king save’ as he turned away in disbelief.
De Gea later made possibly an even better save from Declan Rice’s strike from outside of the box.
Earlier this week, the United goalkeeper wasn’t even named in Spain’s provisional 55-man squad for the World Cup…
De Gea has now played more than 500 times for Man Utd. However, his long-term future is in doubt with Ten Hag seemingly unsure on rewarding him with a new contract.
But for De Gea, he just wants to continue playing and aims to win some more trophies at the club.
“The main job is to try to reach the trophies and fight for them,” said De Gea.
“I won already some trophies here and it was amazing, the feeling, and for the fans as well. This is what we are trying to do.
“We’re trying to improve and be a good team and a proper team and then fight for big things.”
“Like I said before, it’s difficult to reach that many games,” he said.
“Clean sheets as well, every year it’s more difficult to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League so yeah I feel very, very proud and probably, like I said already, I’ll realise more when I stop playing football and check and say ‘look at what I did in this club’.
“But now it’s time to keep doing more: more games, more clean sheets and help the team even more.”
