Bayern Munich defender David Alaba has reportedly turned down advances from Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea in favour of a move to LaLiga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Alaba recently confirmed that he would be leaving Bayern at the end of the current season, but refused to reveal where he was headed.
And now, according to Sky Germany, the Austrian has rebuffed advances from Chelsea and PSG, and is keen on a move to Spain.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have been keen to find a center-back partner for Thiago Silva, who joined them last summer, while the Ligue 1 giants are also in the market for a new defender.
It was reported earlier this month that Alaba had held talks with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi over a potential move ahead of the summer transfer window.
Real Madrid have been touted as Alaba’s preferred destination, especially since club captain Sergio Ramos is out of contract in the summer, and looks almost certain to leave. Raphael Varane and Eder Militao have also been linked with moves away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had previously claimed that Alaba had an agreement in place with Madrid, and he would join Zinedine Zidane’s side on a five-year contract, until 2025.
The 28-year-old is reportedly demanding wages of £400,000-a-week – a figure Los Blancos are more than willing to pay to secure his services.
Le Parisien also claim that Alaba has expressed his desire to play in midfield – one of the conditions that must be accepted before he agrees to make a move to any club. Alaba’s versatility allows him to seamlessly transition from defence to midfield – attributes that have enabled him to play many games in different positions during his career.
