Datro Fofana to remain at Chelsea despite Nice loan links | OneFootball

Fabrizio Romano reports tonight that Datro Fofana will remain at Chelsea tonight, despite being linked with a loan move to Nice on transfer deadline day.

Reports from Foot Mercato earlier in the day had indicated that the Ivorian forward, who only arrived from Molde for around €12m this winter, already had an agreement in place with Les Aiglons. Nice were looking to add the 20-year-old to their attacking options after completing a lucrative move for Ligue 1’s second-highest goalscorer this season in Terem Moffi, from Lorient.

Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen were also said to be interested in taking the player on a simple loan, however, Fofana’s preference had been for a move to the Allianz Riviera.  The Ivorian international had found the net 15 times in his final season in Norway, and had attracted interest as the Premier League side initially looked open to sending him out on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
