The second leg of Manchester City’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid is reportedly set to take place on August 7.
That’s according to Marca who say that Uefa are keen to get European football’s marquee competition back playing over the summer.
Uefa will take a final decision on this season’s Champions League and the Europa League on May 27, and the most advanced idea as of now is for both competitions to return in August.
It’s hoped that all domestic competitions across Europe – bar those that have already been cancelled – will be finished by the end of July.
As such, it would allow clubs to focus entirely on the Champions League and Europa League for a four-week period.
Manchester City beat Real Madrid 2-1 at Santiago Bernabéu in February and are the bookmaker’s favourites to win this season’s competition.
