Joachim Andersen was sent a series of abusive messages after his involvement in Darwin Nunez’s red card during Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace.
Liverpool’s record signing was shown a straight red card for headbutting the Palace defender in the 57th minute during the draw at Anfield.
.
While Andersen no doubt rattled Nunez – and made the most of the headbutt – there’s absolutely no denying the Liverpool man deserved his red card.
Even Jurgen Klopp admitted that after the match.
“A little provocation here and there – and definitely the wrong reaction,” Klopp said.
“A clear red card, I cannot deny that. I saw Andersen on the floor and Darwin walking away, that was my picture. Wrong reaction in the situation. Andersen wanted that, I would say, and he got it. But he made a mistake, Darwin, so of course we will talk about it.”
While Klopp is happy to admit Nunez was at fault, some Liverpool fans felt that it was all Anderson’s fault.
So much, in fact, that they decided to abuse the Palace defender after the match with some sickening messages.
It’s something we’ve seen all too often in the age of social media and it’s happened once again.
The Palace defender revealed the vile messages he received on his Instagram, writing: “Got maybe 3-400 of these messages last night. I understand you support a team but have some respect and stop act tough online.”
Andersen went on to reveal some of the horrific messages he was sent. We won’t share those messages but a link to Andersen’s Instagram account can be found HERE.
After the match, Andersen admitted that he ‘annoyed’ Nunez a lot – which led to the headbutt.
“The whole game I sat really close to him, I annoyed him a lot and did well against him. I think that’s why he was a little bit angry with me,” Andersen told Viaplay after the match.
“In that situation, he headbutted me, the first one, at a cross, and I told him he shouldn’t do that.
“I was angry with him. Then he did it again which is, for me, really stupid. A clear red card.”
