Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore has opened up on the injury problems that forced George Byers and Reece James off in their win at Wycombe yesterday.
The Owls came through a very tough game thanks to a fine Will Vaulks goal, a result which was extremely important as promotion rivals Plymouth and Ipswich dropped points as they drew against each other.
However, the victory did come at a cost, with the two players going off, including Byers in the first half. And, speaking to Yorkshire Live after the game, Moore gave an update on the pair.
“I can’t give you a prognosis on the length of time – if at all any – but George’s is a cut on the top of his foot, and Reece’s was his ankle. Until they’ve both settled down in the week we won’t be able to assess them.
“But it’s a victory today that’s come at a cost. That’s the game here, though, you’re going to have to put your body on the line and we’ve come off with a couple of casualties. But it’s still a rewarding victory.”

The verdict
That was a hard fought victory for Wednesday in a game they always knew was going to be tough and a real battle.
It’s a shame that the players went off injured, particularly Byers as he has had a frustrating campaign so far, so all connected to the club will be hoping it’s not a serious one.
As Moore says, it’s about waiting to discover the full extent of the problems and more should come out in the coming days.
