Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore has revealed that he remains committed to leading the club forward and is happy with his current situation at Hillsborough.

Moore was linked with a move away from the Owls earlier this week following Leeds United’s decision to sack Jesse Marsch.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Carlos Corberan had emerged as a contender for the vacancy at Elland Road which led to the Championship side drafting up a list of potential replacements.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Moore was a possible target for Albion should Corberan leave the club.

However, this speculation was quashed last night as Corberan signed a contract extension at The Hawthorns.

The Spaniard is now set to stay with West Brom until 2027.

Moore will be looking to oversee a successful push for promotion in the coming months after his side were eliminated from the FA Cup last night at the hands of Fleetwood Town.

Carlos Mendes Gomes scored what turned out to be the winning goal for Fleetwood in the second-half of this particular fixture.

After his side’s meeting with the Cod Army, Moore addressed his current situation at Wednesday.

Speaking to Yorkshire Live about the speculation that linked him with a return to West Brom, Moore said: “I don’t know anything of that.

“I’m committed to Wednesday and you know I’ve got a big job here to do.

“I’m committed to working hard at it and making us better.

“I’m happy where I am and long may it continue.”

Darren Moore is the current manager?

The Verdict

Wednesday’s supporters will be happy that this particular rumour has been put to bed as losing Moore at this stage of the season would have been a major blow.

Under the guidance of the 48-year-old, the Owls have managed to secure an impressive total of 18 victories in League One this season.

By claiming another triumph this weekend in their showdown with fellow promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town, the Owls will retain top spot in the standings and extend the gap between them and Kieran McKenna’s side to nine points.

Providing that the Owls are able to maintain their consistency at this level, it would not be at all surprising if they secure a return to the Championship later this year with Moore at the helm.
