In a recent media segment with talkSPORT, former Premier League striker Darren Bent urged Chelsea to land Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba. Bent said,

“When Paul Pogba plays alongside Kante he looks like a completely different player, if they [Chelsea] were to sign him…wow.”

Pogba’s Injury-Plagued Season At Old Trafford

Pogba has experienced a campaign of mixed emotions at Manchester so far. He began this season positively but has since missed a lot of games due to injury. The 28-year-old has secured seven assists in 13 matches for the Red Devils during this campaign across all fronts.

Pogba has been a consistent performer in the limited game time he has received this season as he is averaging 0.9 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 2.2 shots, 1.7 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been excellent when distributing possession from midfield after making 85% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

What Will Pogba Bring To Chelsea?

Pogba is a brilliant two-way midfielder who can do a bit of everything at the centre of the park. He loves a tackle and can earn possession back for his team in midfield. More importantly, the French superstar is an excellent dribbler with the ball and has got the vision to create a few meaningful openings for his teammates up top. He can even strike the ball with power and accuracy which makes him a threat from long range.

At 28, Pogba is playing at his prime at the moment and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at Stamford Bridge if he gets a chance to start for Chelsea regularly in the coming seasons. Things have just not fallen in place for the Frenchman on his return to the Theatre of Dreams.

Therefore, the Blues should consider offering the France international a contract when he becomes a free agent at the end of this campaign. Thomas Tuchel has got enough experience to unlock the best out of Pogba who will be expected to bring more goals and creativity to his Chelsea midfield.
