Juventus captain Danilo insists the whole team is responsible for a poor run of results but the Bianconeri’s target has not changed.
The Brazilian defender spoke to DAZN following a 2-2 draw against Atalanta at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.
Juventus have only won one game in the last seven, conceding 11 goals in this period. For the first time under Massimiliano Allegri, they conceded two goals in each of the last four league matches.
“We work all week, we put in a lot of commitment and sacrifice. Right now, we must take responsibility, especially the most experienced players,” Danilo said as quoted by Ilbianconero.com.
“The whole team knows how to defend, but we know this is a tricky moment that can make us grow. Surely, we must think we can turn things around next week.”
“The motivation must come from the target of reaching the Champions League. It’s the same target, nothing has changed,” Danilo replied.
“Surely, it’s a difficult moment as you can see from their second goal. The ball passed through our feet.
“I am not here to say that a teammate made an error, it’s the whole team. Defenders must think about this because we are responsible for protecting the goal, but I have nothing to say to the guys,” concluded the Juventus captain.
Atalanta took the lead in the first half through Juventus target Teun Koopmeiners, but the Bianconeri put their noses ahead after the break thanks to goals from Andrea Cambiaso and Arek Milik. Koopmeiners scored again at minute 75 to level the score.
