Roma boss Daniele De Rossi spoke to Roma TV on the eve of Atalanta-Roma.

The Italian technician discussed the importance of this match and the challenge that will be facing an in-form Bergamaschi side after the disappointment in Leverkusen on Thursday night.

“We know how important it is for us and for them, they are healthy but perhaps they have played more matches than us. It will be a match to be spread over the 90 minutes, the strength could be lacking for both.”

“We prepared the match in 48 hours after an intense match like Leverkusen, but we are confident,” he added.

“Bayer? They deserved the final, we didn’t deserve it, the matches could have gone differently but overall the best team went to the final, we congratulate Leverkusen and Atalanta, they are both great teams.”

“The players are not happy, you see them distraught, they played well but we had many episodes like Spinazzola’s injury which changed the game plan. Things were going well and despite the opponent’s merits you have that sense of injustice for those details that were on the wrong side of the pitch, like their goal which was fortuitous.”

“The boys are calm and have faith in the future, we played on equal terms with one of the strongest teams at the moment.”

“Formation change? I’m thinking about it, for better or worse I have it in mind, I have 2-3 doubts about everyone’s physical condition, the players have played many matches, but perhaps it’s the first time we’ll play on Sunday and then we’ll have a week to recover, so I could ask the players something more.”

“Atalanta? I like many things about them, Gasperini is one of the most innovative, now not so much because this football was taken as inspiration by others, but he brought something to football, he will be remembered as someone who changed football. I stopped Gasperini once at the end of the match when I was still playing, I wanted to go and spy on him because I was very curious, Atalanta are giving inspiration to many coaches.”

“This is a crucial match for both teams,” concluded De Rossi.
