In a lengthy interview with Rai 2, Roma legend Daniel De Rossi touched upon a variety of topics including his ambition to become a first team manager as well as Jose Mourinho’s progress at his beloved former club.

When asked about his desire to coach, De Rossi admitted that he’s had some proposals sitting on the table over the last few months. “Sometimes it seemed like a deal was ready to be completed in no time, and then at the last minute everything crumbled.”

“I can’t complain. I like working with the national team [as technical staff advisor to Roberto Mancini], but if an interesting offer were to come my way I would consider it. I even have my staff ready. I really want to coach.”

On Mourinho, De Rossi had nothing but high praise: “I don’t think that you realize what he’s been able to accomplish in addition to winning a trophy,” he remarked.

“The stadium is always full… over 60,000 fans attending every single game, both on good days and bad days, both with top teams and smaller sides. I doubt it’s a coincidence.”

“Mourinho has reunited all Roma supporters, and this has to be valued above and beyond any gameplan or formation.”
