Leeds United will look to maintain their impressive form when they face West Bromwich Albion in the Championship on Saturday.

The Whites picked up two crucial wins back-to-back, defeating Sunderland and Sheffield United, but it is the manner of the victory that has been more pleasing.

Ahead of the match, Daniel Farke showered praise on Leeds striker Joel Piroe.

The 25-year-old has been enjoying an “outstanding” season for the Whites. The Dutch striker has scored 16 goals and provided six assists in the Championship this season, and he is the leading candidate to win the Golden Boot, along with Norwich City’s Borja Sainz.

West Brom’s Josh Maja has scored 12 goals this season.

Farke says that Piroe has been playing with confidence this season, and while he is not bothered about individual awards, he’d take it in this case.

The Whites’ boss is also impressed by Piroe’s fitness level this season, and he has shared that the forward has worked incredibly hard to achieve that state.

“I’m not interested in the Golden Boot, but I would take it,” said Farke.

“He plays with confidence, even if behind the striker. It’s totally up to him, his quality is never in doubt.

“He has shown this over several seasons. If you back him, he will always deliver goals. His fitness level is important for him so can deliver high sprints. He has worked hard to gain this level. He is doing outstanding at the moment.”

Piroe has spearheaded the Leeds attack this season, with Mateo Joseph mainly used as a back-up option.

Patrick Bamford has struggled with injuries once again, and he has barely featured. Leeds have taken a healthy five-point lead over Sheffield United, and they are hot favourites to secure an automatic promotion this season.
