Liverpool are understood to be considering making a bid for RB Leipzig star and reported Manchester United target Dani Olmo.

Olmo has been previously mentioned as a player on United’s wishlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

It’s believed that Erik ten Hag’s side have maintained a “watch brief” on the versatile Olmo, who has once again put up impressive numbers despite his season being severely hampered by injuries.

The Spaniard notched four goals and five assists in 21 Bundesliga appearances. Across all competitions, he managed eight goals and five assists.

In addition to playing in central midfield, Olmo can also be effectively deployed on either wing and upfront if required.

Last month, The Peoples Person covered a report which stated that United made strides in their pursuit of Olmo by making contact to explore the possibility of his signing.

To add fuel to the fire, there is a belief that the 26-year-old is fond of the Premier League and would be open to plying his trade in England.

A fresh report has now suggested that Liverpool are weighing up a deal to lure Olmo to Anfield, with new manager Arne Slot a fan of his.

Liverpool are thinking about submitting an offer for the player and in the process, beating the likes of United and Barcelona to his signature.

Leipzig selling Olmo this summer fits in with the Bundesliga club’s model of signing young players for modest fees and nurturing them before proceeding to sell them for huge profits.

Any team keen on materialising their interest in the right-footed star will need to be fast. His deal at the Red Bull Arena contains a £51m release clause which is only valid until July 15.

After that date, the clause will expire and his employers would be free to demand whatever fee they deem fair. The figure they slap on him would likely be significantly more than the quoted £51m figure.
