The RB Leipzig star has shone during his country’s run to the Euro 2024 final, where they will play England in a heavyweight clash in Berlin on Sunday.

Though not a regular starter until Barcelona star Pedri was injured during the quarter-final over Germany, Olmo has more than justified his place in Luis de la Fuente’s side.

Olmo scored against the hosts the final eight before netting the winner over France in the semi-finals, having already got off the mark against Albania in the group stage.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool have all been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old, who is believed to have a release clause worth around £50.5m in his contract. That, however, is only said to be active until mid-July.

Olmo is one of the top scorers at this summer’s tournament, sitting joint level with Harry Kane, Cody Gakpo, Jamal Musiala, Georges Mikautadze and Ivan Schranz on three goals.

UEFA have confirmed that the Golden Boot will be shared by all six players if neither Olmo or Kane add to their tallies on Sunday, as it will not be determined by any other metric such as assists or minutes played.

Leipzig signed Olmo from Dinamo Zagreb in 2020, with the player having started his youth career with Espanyol before joining Barcelona’s La Masia set-up in 2007.

He spent seven years there before moving to Croatia at the age of 16 and has since made his mark in the Bundesliga, scoring 17 goals and registering 24 assists in 107 appearances.

Speaking to Cadena Ser, Olmo said: “I'm not worried. I have my people who take care of everything.

“I have too much to do with the Euros to think about other things. Especially now with the final ahead. I don't have anything else on my mind.”

When pushed specifically on his release clause, he laughed: “You know what you have to do.

“If it's later, you'll have to fight a little.”
