Dani Ceballos looks to have saved his Real Madrid career with the former Arsenal midfielder set to get a new deal at the Bernabéu.

With Dani Ceballos’ Real Madrid contract set to expire at the end of the season, he has recently earned the accolades of the Real Madrid fans for his commitment and attitude on the pitch as he stepped up due to injuries.

Their fans have been applauding a player who ‘displays passion, effort, and perseverance’, qualities that the Spanish press detail as ‘more important than pure talent’.

Ceballos has, they write, won over the hearts of Real Madrid fans with his ‘drive and intense spirit’ and a chant of ‘Ceballos, stay’ has been heard at recent games.

Ceballos’ outstanding form comes at a time when Real Madrid’s veteran midfielders, Modric and Kroos, are struggling to maintain theirs. In a recent match against Valencia, Ceballos was the standout player in the centre of the field, playing every minute and earning the song that has captured the attention of club president Florentino Pérez.

The midfielder has been with the club for six seasons, two of which were spent on loan at Arsenal, and his signing cost €16.5m.

He currently earns €4m net and is seen as a valuable player by the Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti, who apparently considers him the closest thing to Croatian Modric.

Real Madrid are looking to rebuild its midfield with young talent such as Camavinga and Tchouaméni while they are said to prioritise the signing of Jude Bellingham in the summer.

Ceballos wants to stay at Real Madrid but also wants to play more.

Some in the Spanish press have warned the club’s leaders they should take into account the importance of having Spanish players, as demonstrated by the recent match against Valencia where four Spanish players started.

The fans want more of Ceballos and less of Hazard, who has not played for a month.
