Atlético Madrid striker Álvaro Morata vomited after Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal accidentally stepped on his head during Sunday’s Supercopa de España final.
That’s according to MARCA, who report that Morata was unable to take a penalty in the shoot-out because the blow to the head left him feeling dizzy and nauseous.
The incident occurred just after the striker was hacked down by Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde when he was clean through on goal in the dying minutes.
A small scuffle broke out between the two sets of players and as Morata lay on the ground, Stefan Savić pushed Carvajal onto the Spain hit-man’s head.
Morata is then reported to have thrown up, forcing Atleti boss Diego Simeone to omit him from the penalty shoot-out, which Los Blancos won 4-1.
Who knows, it might have been a different story had the Rojiblancos been able to call upon their regular spot-kick taker.
Ouch.
