Carlos Corberan has overseen a brilliant transformation at the John Smith’s Stadium in the last 12 months.

Town limped to 20th last season after a woeful start to 2021, but are currently sitting sixth in the Championship heading into Friday night’s clash with Stoke City in West Yorkshire.

Yes No

Meticulous use of the transfer window has helped Huddersfield recover some defensive solidity, whilst Sinani’s arrival on loan from Norwich City has contributed to the final third.

Despite their current lofty position, Sinani conceded that it was tough to say the play-offs were Huddersfield’s aim when he first arrived.

“It’s difficult to say because if you compare this season to last season, it wasn’t great in terms of the position in the table,” Sinani stated.

What’s changed, then?

“This year, we are just focusing on each game and trying to win games,” Sinani continued. “At the end of the season, we will see what will happen.

“Nobody expected us to get promoted because there are a lot of good teams competing for promotion. For us, it’s about competing in every game and, come the end of the season, seeing where we stand.”

Sinani has found opportunities limited with parent-club, Norwich, who are fighting for their lives in the Premier League under new manager Dean Smith.

The Luxembourg international’s loan to Huddersfield has offered the chance to get a taste of English football and the intensity of the Championship.

Sinani is coping, too, having struck five goals in 23 appearances, including back-to-back fixtures with Swansea City and Reading FC.

The 24-year-old has a burning ambition to play in the Premier League, though, despite the fact he and his Huddersfield teammates will not allow that dream to run wild.

“Every player wants to play in the Premier League,” Sinani continued. “We are in a good position but there are a lot of games to play.

“There are no easy games, the boys know that, but they are willing to get promoted, which we show in every game.

“We will fight from the beginning to the end to get as many points as we can.”
