Dan Burn says Myles Lewis-Skelly did not look like an 18-year-old making his first England start against Albania.
Burn and Arsenal youngster Lewis-Skelly both made their debuts in the 2-0 win, starting the game together on the left side of defence.
Lewis-Skelly scored the opener before Harry Kane added another in the second half and Burn says he has been impressed with the maturity of his new England team-mate.
“I thought he was brilliant,” Burn said.
“Very composed and I thought he was really good on the ball, off the ball. Everything he did.
“He’s a lot older than 18 out there on the pitch. You would never ever think that (he was 18).
“I’m buzzing for him. He’s deserved that. He’s been great all week and for being 18-years-old, I think he’s settled in really well into the squad so I’m very, very happy for him.”
Burn was a surprise call-up for Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad, making his debut at the age of 32.
He also came close to scoring on his debut, hitting the bar with a header from a corner.
The Newcastle defender has enjoyed a memorable week, scoring at Wembley for his club to help them win the Carabao Cup before making his Three Lions debut.
“It was an amazing night, to walk out at Wembley, sing the national anthem and get a start for England is something that I’ve dreamt of when I was a kid,” Burn said.
“Gutted that I didn’t score again but I am getting a bit greedy because I’ve had a pretty good week.
“It was a good performance. I thought Albania were a good team. They put a lot of people behind the ball, second half they caused us some problems so we’re a bit disappointed with that but as a first game under the new manager goes I think we’re pretty happy.”
