Daley Blind has spoken out about the possibility of him returning to Ajax this summer. The 33-year-old spent the second half of the season at Bayern Munich, but after making just five appearances for the German champions, he’s already departing. Blind doesn’t yet know where he’ll be playing next season, but a return to Ajax could be on the cards. The 101-time Netherlands international told Vandaag Inside ‘Ajax is always my club and the door is always open for me.’

Just over a week ago, Blind had his hands on the Bundesliga trophy following a crazy final day of the season. However, the former Manchester United man played a total of just 157 minutes of football in Germany. Speaking about his future Blind said ‘I’m now transfer-free, so a lot is going to come my way. We are going to calmly sort that out over the next few weeks and then we will make a good choice by feeling.’

Having already experienced two successful spells at Ajax, Blind said he ‘can’t say that much’ about a possible return to the Johan Cruyff Arena. The defender added ‘I can only say that Ajax will always be my club and that that door will always be open for me. Other than that, I want to leave it at that. I don’t know if that’s up for discussion now. That’s not up to me either. I’m just going to look at my options and then I hope to get back to playing a lot of football next season.’

Daley Blind has also been linked with a move to Royal Antwerp, over recent weeks. Former The former director of football at Ajax, Marc Overmars currently works as the director of football at Antwerp. Blind would not comment on whether Overmars contacted him regarding a move to the Belgian champions. Blind said ‘I’m not going to comment on that. I congratulated him on the championship and the double. It’s fantastic how they did it there. Whether Overmars then immediately said, ‘See you in a few weeks’? No, he didn’t. It doesn’t happen that fast.’

Both Daley Blind and AZ midfielder Tijjani Reijnders will not be part of Ronald Koeman’s 23-man Netherlands squad for the upcoming Nations League games. The pair will remain with the national team until next Wednesday’s semi-final against Croatia.
