AC Milan have joined Tottenham and Newcastle in the race to sign Sevilla defender Diego Carlos but have not matched the latter’s offer, a report claims.

According to what is being reported by the Daily Mail, Carlos has asked to leave Sevilla before the window closes despite the fact he played for them in their 1-1 draw with Valencia on Wednesday night, and Milan have proposed a deal for the 28-year-old Brazilian.

However the English source adds that the Rossoneri’s bid ‘has fallen short’ of Newcastle’s £28m bid, which works out at around €33.5m. Carlos is aware that there is interest in him from big clubs abroad and is trying to force his hand to get a move in the next 10 days.

Spurs boss Antonio Conte is hopeful of landing him too with the north London club in a dogfight for a top four spot, while there could be an added implication because the report states that Milan are keen on a loan deal for Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga, so if Spurs get Carlos that could clear the way.
