AC Milan are one of the clubs interested in signing midfielder Carlos Baleba from Lille but they face competition, according to a report.

The Daily Mail write that Brighton are the team that have opened talks with Lille over the signing of Baleba in a £15m (€17.5m) deal as they look to replace Moises Caicedo who joined Chelsea earlier in the week.

The Cameroon-born midfielder is described as a strong player who is left-footed, can break up the play and drive forward with the ball, which isn’t too dissimilar to what the Seagulls had with Caicedo.

One Premier League scout remarked the following: “There is very little missing in his game. He has speed, technical ability, aggression and intelligence. He will develop more physically too as he’s only 19.”

However, the paper also mentions that Milan, Juventus, Monaco, Liverpool and Newcastle United have all been on Baleba’s trail and have watched him with scouts, so they could yet face some competition.

Brighton are offering €17.5m to Lille plus some add-ons in a bid to convince them to sell, and given how much they received for Caicedo they could yet raise that. They have offer on the table for Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus too.
