HBVL are reporting that Cyriel Dessers had interest from unnamed Dutch and Belgian sides before opting to join Rangers instead. The former Genk striker, who spent time on loan at Feyenoord, has moved from Italy to Scotland to join his latest side. the 28-year-old is on the ninth side of his career to date, but has stated that he now wants to have a more stable time and remain in Scotland for a few seasons at least. His aim is to win the league title this season with the Scottish giants.
Plenty of sides would have been interested from the Belgian and Dutch leagues in the Nigerian international, especially considering his goal scoring records in the latter. Genk signed the forward after a spell with Heracles where he scored 18 goals in 29 games. While at Genk, Dessers found himself behind Paul Onuachu, managing just 11 goals in 43 games. He did manage 20 goals at Feyenoord before leaving for Italy. During his time with US Cremonese he only managed seven goals in 29 games as the side were relegated to Serie B.
