Patrick Cutrone’s career has not gone exactly the way he would have hoped since he left AC Milan three years ago, but he revealed that the club still hold a special place in his heart.

Cutrone scored over 100 goals for the youth teams of Milan before then exploding with the first team under Vincenzo Montella and Gennaro Gattuso, but in 2019 the decision was made to sell him as Premier League side Wolves snapped him up.

However, he struggled to settle in England and was subsequently loaned back to Italy, where Rocco Commiso’s Fiorentina were willing to take him, and then to Valencia before spending last season with Empoli. A permanent move to Como in Serie B followed in the summer.

Interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cutrone spoke about his growth with Milan including the key figures that he learned a lot from in his time, with his comments relayed by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it.

“The coach who taught me the most? It is difficult, I have learned so much from everyone. I could name Montella who gave me my debut, Gattuso at Milan too. But I say De Vecchi and Galbiati in the Rossoneri youth teams. I owe it to them that I became a footballer,” he said.

“The striker I stole the most secrets from? I played with many strong forwards, but I fell in love with Higuain. A space-driver player and a golden person. I was inspired by him even before playing with him, he is a complete champion.

“Are Milan favourites for the Scudetto? I don’t know, but I always hope so. My heart is there too.”
