Through Instagram, the Curva Sud Milano and the AIMC published a statement blasting Cagliari for their management of ticket sales.
The league regulation states that away teams must get at least 5% of the home team’s stadium’s capacity for ticket sales, which would be a bit over 800 in Cagliari’s case. However, Milan were seemingly given just over half that.
The Curva and the Association of Italian Milan fan clubs (AIMC) published a joint statement on social media criticising the poor organisation and the rule-breaking.
“The away match in Cagliari confirmed the sad custom that characterises the Italian visiting sectors: high prices, dilapidated stadiums and capacity not respected.
“For today’s match, many of us were unable to come to Cagliari to support the boys, thanks to a bad number of tickets which gives rise to spontaneous reflections:
“How is it possible that a Serie A club can easily start the season without EVER guaranteeing 5% of the stadium’s capacity to guests, as required by the regulations issued by the Serie A League itself?
“The visiting fans who go to Cagliari are promptly assigned 415 tickets against the 821 they would be entitled to by right, with the consequence that for the larger groups, many fans, often with planes and ferries booked long ago, remain without tickets.
“When asked to reserve the missing tickets in the stands next to us, effectively expanding the existing guest sector while maintaining the same price, the Cagliari club responded scathingly, even setting the crazy price of €120 for each single ticket.
“In addition to the fans who follow the team all year round, the many Milan clubs in Sardinia were also left without tickets, who for logistical and economic reasons have the only opportunity to see the team up close with the away match in Cagliari.
“In light of all this, we hope that the Lega Serie A will immediately force Cagliari, as well as all other Serie A clubs that are not in compliance, to respect the 5% capacity for the visiting sector, finally finding an agreement with everyone the club to establish a single and accessible price for all visiting fans in all stadiums in Italy.
