Inter’s Curva Nord ultras group have made a statement on the possibility of a sale of striker Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea, condemning the club for considering the possibility.

In the statement, reported by FCInterNews, the group protest the financial motivations behind possibly allowing the Belgian to leave.

Lukaku has been strongly linked with a move away in recent days, with Chelsea having stepped up their interest in the player and ready to make an enormous financial offer.

The player could accept a move to the club, and should he do so the Nerazzurri do not appear likely to turn down a major offer by the European champions.

The Curva Nord, however, would not be pleased with this outcome, and have made their views known in their statement.

They state their intention to continue protesting should the Belgian depart, and urge the club to keep the promise of only letting one major player go this summer.

The group hung a banner outside of the Nerazzurri headquarters which read, “Club, Attention, Promises must be kept.”

In their press release, they state: “Any type of market operation must now, as agreed, be aimed at improving the squad. Making cash without investing adequately does not fall within the acceptable range. This applies to any player. We will not suffer idly by, made fun of by anyone, and we will act accordingly and consistently with what was defined at the end of the season. We do not believe there is anything else to add.”
