Curtis Jones is set for an increased role at Liverpool next season, even if the Reds are being linked with a host of midfielders at the moment.
The centre of the park is a vital area of the pitch and, of course, the Reds have seen one of their key assets move on in that third with Gini Wijnaldum heading to PSG.
Naturally, then, there has been speculation that the Reds will look to replace him with a new signing but, in saying that, there is also an option that could see Curtis Jones used increasingly after an impressive season last year for the Reds.
Paul Gorst offered his thoughts on the situation with the young Scouser, telling the Liverpool Echo:
“Curtis Jones had a really good season I thought last time out and he will be set for an increased role next season as his career naturally progresses.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Jones is a really bright talent and whilst it would probably be wise to bring in a new midfielder this summer transfer window, it would also make sense to ensure we don’t put obstacles in his way in terms of his progression.
He could be really good for us, and next season could be an important year for him.
