The drop ball has largely gone out of fashion in top flight football, but referees still pull it out occasionally.
Clearly, no one told Curtis Jones though.

During Liverpool's clash with Bournemouth, the referee began the drop ball only for Jones to leave it, allowing a Bournemouth player to pounce before running the length of the pitch before taking a shot.
Fortunately, Liverpool and Jones had the last laugh with all three points, but it must have been a heart in mouth moment for the midfielder!
