There is no feeling quite like scoring against your old team, and Southampton striker Che Adams has become accustomed to that emotion during his time at St Mary's.

The Scottish international has become a fan favourite since signing for the Saints in 2019, producing a number of important strikes in the Premier League and Championship for the South Coast, in particular against his former employers.

Having previously turned out for Sheffield United and Birmingham City, the 27-year-old has yet to taste defeat against his former employers, but has found the most joy against the Blades during his time with Southampton.

In 2014, Sheffield United, then of League One, secured the services of Adams on a two-year deal from Ilkeston Town, with the fee reportedly around six-figures.

He would have to wait a month to make his debut for the Blades, replacing Jamal Campbell-Ryce in the League Cup against future employers, Southampton, helping his side to a narrow victory against the Saints to take them to the semi-finals of the competition, followed by making his Football League debut four days later.

And he would be catapulted into the limelight during the next round of the competition that he made his debut in, coming on as a substitute once again against Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur.

Just five minutes after his introduction, the then 18-year-old scored twice in two minutes to see the encounter potentially go to extra-time, only for Christian Eriksen to break the hearts of those inside Bramall Lane, with his 88th minute finish the difference over the two evenly-contested ties.

He would go on to make 10 appearances in the league as Sheffield United finished in the play-off places, with Adams scoring in the play-off semi-final second leg against Swindon Town, but saw his side lose 7-6 on aggregate.

The striker would score his first league goals for the Saints the following season, scoring both goals in the Blades' first home game of the season against Chesterfield, going on to score 12 goals and provide five assists in League One, while also featuring for England's U20 side in two international friendlies against the Czech Republic.

Adams' time in South Yorkshire saw him net 15 times in 55 appearances for the Blades before completing a move to Birmingham, with a reported fee of £2 million paid.

After completing a move to Southampton in 2019, Adams has continued to showcase his goal-scoring prowess, with a number of teams feeling the full effects of his striking ability.

The likes of Preston North End, Norwich City and Watford have conceded a number of goals against the Scottish international, but the 27-year-old has also enjoyed success against Sheffield United.

Adams has scored four times in nine appearances against the Blades, all of which have come during the Saints' time in the Premier League.

Of his four league goals during the 2019/20 season, three of which came in the final two games of the campaign, scoring a brace on the final day against his former club.

He would continue his rich vein of form against the Blades the following term, netting his fourth goal of the season in a comfortable home win before going 13 games without finding the back of the net. Adams would return to the scoresheet against, you guessed it, Sheffield United.

But along with his impressive goal-scoring record, Adams also boasts an unbeaten record against his former employers.

Of his nine appearances against the Blades, the striker has won six of his meetings with the South Yorkshire club, drawing the other three games.

A potential reunion between the two sides could take place in the near future, with Adams hopeful of continuing his excellent goal-scoring record against the club he announced himself with in professional football.
