Current and former Inter Milan managers Simone Inzaghi and Antonio Conte are going head-to-head for the Scudetto.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by FCInterNews, the Serie A title race could go down to the wire, with Inzaghi and Conte spearheading the chase.
Inzaghi succeeded Conte in the Nerazzurri dugout in 2021 after the latter inspired the Gusppe Meazza outfit to their 19th league title.
After five domestic titles, the 48-year-old finally achieved his goal last term.
Led by Simone Inzaghi, Inter won a landmark 20th Scudetto in emphatic fashion.
Almost uncontested, the 2023 UEFA Champions League finalists steamrolled to the Scudetto, leaving runners-up AC Milan 19 points behind.
But despite carrying a favorite tag into the new season, Inter’s title defense hasn’t been plain sailing thus far.
Much of the credit goes to none other than Conte.
Following an embarrassing title-defending campaign in 2023/24, Napoli appointed the ex-Inter boss in the summer.
Only a month into the new season, they look to challenge Inter’s Scudetto credentials until the final day.
Conte has reignited hope at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Despite a 3-0 loss on his touchline debut in Serie A, the 55-year-old has orchestrated a renaissance in Naples.
Indeed, Napoli headed into October’s international break looking down at the others from the top of the pile.
With 16 points, they’re the current leaders. However, runners-up Inter are only two points adrift.
It’s still uncertain whether Conte’s charges could keep up with this pace until the end.
But if they do, Inter will face a fierce battle to reclaim the Scudetto.
With Conte’s Napoli emerging as serious contenders, it could be a thrilling race for the Serie A title.
Nonetheless, Inter should still have the upper hand.
